Food For Thought (Mark 5:43)

In Mark 5:43, After Jesus raised the daughter from the dead in the house of Jairus, His second command was for her to eat and this was directed at her parents I love this because it points out 2 very important principles, that I myself have found to be so good.

1. When we come to life... We are empty. Out surrounding are new and we are vulnerable. We are open to whatever happens because we know no better. We've just had something AMAZING happen in the physical (an experience), which is great. But if we aren't careful, that experience can be our only focus/drive and it will eventually fade. She needed food (maybe physical - maybe spiritual) to stain her health, to strengthen her, to ground her, so she would not revert to death again.

2. Her leaders, authority, covering were called to do this. She needed guidance and someone to cover her while she became strong again.

When we wake, we need food from the wise to do the same thing! We have to make a choice to feed our bodies with TRUTH and LOVE so we don't relapse into our old ways of living... Or rather back to death.
This also can be applied to when we give something up. I smoked for about 2 years. Every time I wanted to give it up, it would last a few days... and sometimes even a week or more. But the thing is, I wasn't filling my time with anything else. I would just think about how nice it would be to smoke or release my anger through that. So when we are emptying ourselves out, when we are sacrificing something, when we choose to put to death sin in our lives... We need to also choose to fill that empty space with Jesus Love. We need to be rooted and grounded in that Love. We need to choose to read scripture to fight off the temptations of the enemy. We need to be covered with the Armor that God has for us. We have to feed our spirit in order to fight the flesh.

Hope every one is having a blessed week!! Be filled with Truth, Love, and Life this week :)

  1. Excellent principle to point out! Jesus talks about that very subject in Matthew 12:43-45 where he talks about demons returning a "house swept clean", but left void. The Lord had just finished chastising those who were seeking signs and experiences without any repentance or growth to follow.
